teaser3-forumWhen OnePlus designed and built the OnePlus One they teamed up with well renowned audio company JBL to fine tune the speakers in the phone. Today OnePlus have announced another partnership between the two companies, teaming up to produce a set of stylish earphones, the JBL E1+ Earphones.

Following their ‘Never Settle’ mantra OnePlus have endeavoured to have JBL produce, exclusively for the OnePlus One, earphones that will better the listening experience with the One. The JBL E1+ earphones are equipped with premium 9mm JBL drivers with PureBass technology along with dynamic, high frequency response. For those who know about ear/headphones the specs for the E1+ earphones are:

  • Driver: 9mm
  • Impedance: 32Ω+/-15%
  • Maximum SPL: 105dB @ 5mW
  • Rated power input: 5mW
  • Frequency: 10Hz-22000Hz
  • Connector: 3.5mm
  • Cable length: 1.2m

The cable is a flat, non-tangle cable and comes in a brilliant red colour to match the OnePlus logo. There is an in-line three button remote including a microphone and allows for volume adjustment, answering calls, skipping tracks and taking pictures. There are three different sizes of angled non-slip rubber eartubes to maximise comfort and fit for enhanced sound.

OnePlus state that the earphones will be on sale in October and their online store has them priced at $39US and listed as ‘coming soon’. Hopefully they won’t be ‘coming soon’ like all the styleswap back covers were. It is doubtful these will be able to be shipped directly to Australia. Expect to have to go down the mail forwarder route if you are interested in these.

So close to the launch of their own head phones. Their marketing team truly is laughable. Can’t imagine JBL is impressed.

yeah- that did surprise me too- their own earphones are obviously budget. Mind you these JBL ones are $39 so they aren’t very expensive.

With their own earphones out very recently i seriously thought this would be a portable bluetooth speaker announcement…

JBL LOL They are the little ones in the audio game. I thought they would partner with someone like Velodyne as they are very reputable oh well another fail.

I think they had already worked with JBL on the OPO so are just continuing this relationship. If they went too high end then their price points would become a bit skewed- eg. $300 for the phone and $150 for earphones to go with it? :-/

Scott, $150 headphones are merely ones that are entry level of the mid-tier stuff.
Actual high end, you’re talking a minimum of $800AUD.
