With Android Lollipop now official, Google has released the updated developer builds for the Nexus 7 (2013) and the Nexus 5 on their developer preview site.

The new build is LPX13D, updated from the previous latest build of LPV81C. The dowloads clock in at over 300MB each, and there’s been some hit and miss on the downloads as the servers are obviously under load right now. You can find the download links below (they’re directly from Google).

Device Download Checksum
Nexus 5 (GSM/LTE)
“hammerhead”
hammerhead-lpx13d-preview-f7596f51.tgz MD5: 8d92596aa038203fc6c8ff40a0e8b560
SHA-1: f7596f518a8a429f03de5bf8152fa90e738228dd
Nexus 7 (WiFi) “Razor” razor-lpx13d-preview-ae4f461f.tgz MD5: b2c567518d203b487cb2ac28d25b0a54

Download, unpack and run ‘flash-all.bat’ on Windows or ‘flash-all.sh’ on Mac and if you’re wanting to avoid a full wipe of the device you can edit the script file and omit -w from the fastboot command, eg:

fastboot update image-hammerhead-lpx13d.zip

Be sure to let us know what you think of the latest Lollipop build.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

Lots of nice improvements over the last preview. Just a bit jarring to see the old GAPPs icons – reminds me of my Cyanogenmod days on my xperia ray. But finally a flashlight toggle. Now if only my nexus 5 didn’t have a chipped corner…

Is it just me, or does the ‘Email’ app only offer POP and IMAP, and no Exchange?

Flashing this on my Nexus 5 now 🙂

If your on Kit Kat do you need to wipe?

I did a full wipe as recommended. If you aren’t prepared to do a full wipe, wait for the OTA 🙂

English (Australia) is now an option!

Oddly though, the dictionary in keyboard settings is set to US, needs to be changed to UK.

The spell check needs to be changed to UK. We don’t want the pound symbol as our default currency. Australians need a hybrid keyboard, UK spelling but US symbols.

US keyboard is correct. UK keyboard is incorrect. If one uses a spellcheck, it should be set to UK.

That’s right. The keyboard layout option is now names ‘language’ which is confusing. The spellcheck setting is buried in the google keyboard settings.
