Officeworks now offering the HP 7″ Plus G2 for $149

HP has made a bit of a reputation for themselves here, and around the world for releasing products with little, to no fanfare and this tradition continues with Officeworks offering the HP 7″ Plus G2 Android tablet for $149.

The 7″ Plus G2 is the follow up from the 7″ Plus tablet which launched earlier this year. The original HP 7 Plus also launched at the $149 price point, before dropping it down to $99 clearance a few months later.

The full list of specs for the HP 7″ Plus G2 include:

  • 7″ IPS display (1280 x 720)
  • 1.2 Ghz Allwinner A33 ARM Cortex™ A7 Quad Core Processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB memory, expandable to 32GB via microSD Card
  • 2MP rear camera, 0.3MP front facing
  • WiFi 802.11 (b,g,n) with Bluetooth v4.0
  • Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)
  • Dimensions: 188.2 (H) x 101 (W) x 8.7mm (D), 256g

The HP 7 Plus G2 comes with a base OS level of Android 4.2, which is now over a year old and with HP’s history of updates, we don’t expect this to receive any love on that front. The HP software load generally includes HP Android apps like media player, file manager and printer applications bundled with the tablet, so there’s some good functions built in.

The 7″ Plus G2 tablet is available both online and through your local Officeworks store for $149.

Officeworks are also offering the bigger brother to the 7″ Plus G2 tablet in the same catalogue which starts tomorrow, the 10″ Plus G2 tablet, for $296 both online and through your local store as well.

  1. I returned this after only 12 hours, it was terrible! Screen freezes has jerky transition from one to another. It is also very difficult to type on the screen as it is so narrow. This is a $99 item in America, as such the quality is exactly that: $99 it is not worth $149 add a little and get the Samsung tab 3 lite 7 for $161 at bing lee is better. I ended up getting the Intel powered iconia a1 which is much better, smoother more hard disk space and fits most iPad mini cases like a glove, $167 at office work it is a better deal. Intel powered is always better this Chinese nameless chip company is bad. I heard it only costs HP $1.50 cents to purchase this cheap chip. Allwinner my foot. Any Intel duo core Atom is faster than this. Piece of crap. Not even worth $79, let alone $149. This sits nicely next to Pendo at Target and right at home in aldi with the Bauhn lot.

  2. How good are Allwinner processors? I bought an Allwinner QuadCore Tablet for my mother-in-law and I swear my Motorola Xoom 1 tablet with its DualCore processor is faster and smoother. So does anyone have any ideas on the Allwinner?
