The HP Chromebox hasn’t made a massive splash here in Australia, but they’re a decent machine if you’re looking for a kiosk machine, or even just a replacement for a basic websurfing desktop. The Chromebox starts at around the $276 mark at various computer shops around Australia on StaticIce, but Amazon has a deal on the Turquoise coloured HP Chromebox, offering to ship it to you here in Australia for just AU$168.90.
There’s colour options if you want to pay a little more, the White is US$136.58 (AU$163.76) and the Smoke Silver (which looks like Black) is selling for US$170.41 (AU$204.32), but if it’s the cheapest you want then the US$129 price tag of the Turquoise model (AU154.67) is the one for you. The Standard Shipping (averages 9-12 days) on the Chromebox will set you back AU$14.34, while Expedited Shipping (averages 7-11 business days) costs AU$19.39 and Priority Shipping (averages 2-5 days) is AU$52.48.
The HP Chromebox comes with a 1.4 GHz Intel 2955U Celeron processor, 2GB of RAM, 16GB SSD and Gigabit Ethernet + WiFi 802.11 b/g/n 2×2, BT 4.0 combo – the HP Chromebox comes with HDMI and Display Port out, as well as 4x USB 3.0 ports and an SD Card reader. Not bad specs for a basic machine, you can even run it as an Ubuntu desktop or with XBMC if you’re wanting to get a little tricky. Either way, it’s not a bad deal.
