Action Launcher

Popular Aussie developer Chris Lacy, responsible for the release of many popular apps such as Tweet Lanes, Tap Path and Link Bubble cently released his latest project; Action Launcher 3.

Previously he ran some pretty quiet early access setups, some of which we’ve been fortunate enough to join in on for his projects. In a recent G+ post he’s announced that he will be running a more public Beta testing regime which you can join in on.

What you need to do is

  1. Join the Google Group for Digital Ashes
  2. Head over to the Play Store, opt in as a tester
  3. Download the app like normal, when a Beta build is out – You’ll get it automatically

It’s important if you decide to enter into this that you understand a few things. First and foremost, Beta is a final testing phase of apps. They’re not generally ready for daily driver use, but they’re very close. So you need to accept that there may be some bugs, instabilities and imperfections in the software.

Being part of the Beta does not give you free access to the final product, but it does allow you access during the beta phase of the product.

Finally…
Access to Beta testing is a privilege, not a right! The fact that Chris is opening it up to the public is a brave move in his part and has a lot of associated risks. Please be respectful to the others involved in the testing, the developer and anyone else you may come across in your travels.

Even if you decide not to get onboard the Beta, Action Launcher 3 is well worth a look if you’re looking for a customisable launcher that had plenty of options.

I’m currently beta testing a visual voicemail app some guy is developing. Only works on Vodafone, but it works well and the interface is fine for a beta.

He got a lot of flak for his latest version. Unjustly or otherwise
