Google Play is getting an update today, with a number of users seeing the update pushed out. The update brings ‘Immersive hero images’ according to Google Android Interface Engineer Kirill Grouchnikov.

The effect of Immersive Hero Images in Google Play, is that the notification bar now slides into transparency while you’re viewing an entry in Google Play. The notification bar returns once you start scrolling down – Green for Apps, Orange for Music, Red for Movies & TV etc. – but for when you first view an image it’s a more immersive experience focusing on the app, game, movie or book.

The update is rolling out slowly, you can sometimes prompt an update in Google Play by going to the Nav Drawer > Settings and tapping on the version number, but when that fails, head to and grab the update from there.
