lastpass

Users of the LastPass password manager app can finally let out a sigh of relief; the somewhat ugly Android application has received an update including a glorious Material Design makeover, and in great news for brand-new Samsung Galaxy S6 / Galaxy S6 Edge users, free premium membership is now being thrown in as well!

There’s some neat integrations with Samsung’s new platform, as you might expect, including use of the fingerprint sensor to automatically unlock the app and then enter passwords automatically. Autofill of passwords and form data works with Chrome for Android, as well as LastPass’ own built in browser.

If you’ve picked up a Galaxy S6 yesterday, and you’re a LastPass user, delay no further; give the new version a try and let us know. For everyone else, you can try it too, of course, but there’s no free premium for you.

Chris has been at the forefront of smartphone reporting in Australia since smartphones were a thing, and has used mobile phones since they came with giant lead-acid batteries that were "transportable" and were carried in a shoulder bag. He saw the transition from AMPS to GSM, loved the Motorola StarTac, and got into Palm technologies in a big way. The arrival some years later of the original iPhone, and then the early Androids, awoke a new interest in mobile technology, and Chris has been writing about it since.

Today, Chris publishes one of Australia's most popular technology websites, Ausdroid. His interests include mobile (of course), as well as connected technology and how it can make all our lives easier.
