Zenwatch Pins
Though Asus has only just launched the ZenWatch in the Australian market, it’s been available elsewhere in the world for a fair while now. With a product in the market for six months now, talk is turning to the next version and according to NDTV, there’s at least two versions of the Zenwatch 2 being cooked up for release next year.

According to comments made by Asus CEO Jerry Shen during a trip to New Delhi, the next version of the watch will launch next year. Further comments revealed that Asus is working on two variants for release, with different designs aimed at both genders – though exactly what a ‘gender specific’ release could entail wasn’t elaborated on. A gender specific release, could possibly satisfy a demand from the female market, which has so far been under-represented in Android Wear releases.

Mr Shen also advised that after the release of the Zenwatch, Asus now has a better understanding of the wearable market – with the Zenwatch apparently a test to check market reception.

Also revealed, is that Asus is planning on releasing a second wearable, but not running Android Wear, with Asus working on their own OS for wearables. This new wearable would be cognisant of battery life concerns which have been a strong talking point on wearables released so far.

At this stage, this is only rumour and speculation, we look forward to seeing what Asus has to offer when they finally unveil their next gen wearable.
