Telstra has recently added another new device to its prepaid line of mobiles with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini now available to purchase both in-store and online for $359.
Samsung originally announced the Galaxy S5 Mini last July, with Telstra only adding the device to its line up of post-paid devices in mid February this year and it seems now that Galaxy S5 Mini is destined to become the only flagship Galaxy S Mini range to be placed on a pre-paid service. It certainly was also baffling that the device was so late coming to our shores, given the current Samsung flagship Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge were only weeks away from announcement.
That said the specs for the Galaxy S5 Mini are quite good for a pre-paid budget phone, which are as follows:
- 4.5″ Super AMOLED display (1280px x 720)
- 1.4 GHz Quad-core processor
- 1.5GB RAM
- 16GB internal memory, expandable to 64GB via microSD
- 8MP rear camera, 2.1MP front facing
- 2,100 mAh Lithium Ion Battery
- Network Connectivity:
- 2G: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz
- 3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
- 4G: 700/850/900/1800/2100/2600 MHz
- Android 4.4.2 (Kit Kat)
It is a little sad that the device is still running Android 4.4.2 (Kit Kat), but as a sub-premium handset, it is to be expected that it may not receive an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop. It is also the 3rd pre-paid device to take advantage of Telstra’s 700MHz spectrum called 4GX and has been given the Telstra blue tick for regional area usage as well.
If you’re interested in finding out more about the Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini or are considering purchasing the pre-paid mobile, you can check it out now through your local Telstra store or the Telstra Pre-Paid website at the price of $359.
