Google Fit now shows calories burned, estimate distance travelled and comes with Widget and Android Wear watchface

Google has been working out their fitness platform ‘Fit’, and has this morning announced new updates which will give some additional functionality.

Once you’ve updated the Fit app with your vital statistics such as height, weight and gender, Fit can now estimate distance travelled and calories burned. The new vital statistics will also be shown in your Fit history as you scroll back over the days, weeks and months.

Additionally, to make it easier to see what you’ve been doing, Fit now has a widget for your home screen and for those rocking Android Wear you can install the Fit watch face on your watch.

The Google Fit app should be updating on your phone or tablet shortly, so keep an eye out for the prompt, or if you haven’t had it installed, head over to Google Play and grab it from the link below.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
