It seems Lenovo has quietly launched its latest budget 7″ tablet, with the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10 7″ Tablet now available from both Officeworks and JB HiFi for $99.

The Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10 7″ Tablet is a pretty basic 7″ tablet but does offer some fairly good specs for a really good price when you look at what you are getting at the end of the day.

The full list of specs include:

  • 7″ IPS LCD Display (1024 x 600)
  • 1.3 GHz Quad-core Cortex-A7
  • MediaTek MT8127
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB Memory, expandable to 32GB via microSD
  • 0.3MP front facing camera only
  • Bluetooth 4.0|WLAN: WiFi 802.11 b/g/n|GPS: Satellite
  • Android 4.4 (Kit Kat)

Whilst the TAB 2 A7-10 7″ does come with Android 4.4 (Kit Kat) right out of the box, its a little disappointing to not see the tablet running Android 5.0 (Lollipop) and its probably safe to say that the TAB 2 A7-10 7″ won’t see this upgrade.

Still if you’re after a 7″ tablet with decent specs and price, then the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10 7″ tablet might be what you’re looking for.

You can check out the Lenovo TAB 2 A7-10 7″ at your local JB HiFi Store or purchase online through the JB HiFi website for $99 or you can head into your local Officeworks Store or again purchase online through the Officeworks website for $97.

The Lollipop update (5.0) arrived here for the A7-10F yesterday. Not sure why you said it would never get the update. Lenovo have always said it would come even if it was a few weeks later than forecast.

I haven’t installed the update yet… just waiting for someone else to do it first 🙂

I went to Officeworks to purchase one (their normal price is $97) but I noticed that it was running 4.4.2. Does anyone know if an update will be provided to bring this into the 21st century? The Android Wear App requires a minimum of 4.4.3 so it will not work on this tablet. Disappointed that Lenovo decided to provide such an old version of Android for a “new” tablet.

I’ve been looking at getting one of these for my son’s birthday. He will only use if for playing basic games (no minecraft or networked games yet) so should be more than up to the task and I won’t get too upset when he drops it and shatters the screen.
