Instant communications client Viber is moving across platform, announcing a new Chrome app for ChromeOS – best of all it supports HD calling on both phone and video calls.
The Chrome App which is available for ChromeOS users, is now available in the Chrome Web Store. Viber is used by more than 516 million people worldwide, providing the ability to make HD audio and video calls, text, as well as send photos and videos on Wi-Fi or 3G, and unlike WhatsApp – it’s Free, though I don’t know anyone who’s actually paid the 99c fee to WhatsApp yet.
As well as being an online instant messaging and communications tool, Viber can also be used to make calls to mobile and landline numbers – just check the call rates before you connect. Viber is a platform agnostic tool, with clients for PC (Mac and Windows – sorry, no Linux), as well a mobile platforms on Blackberry, Nokia, iOS and of course Android.
