If the LG G Watch deal from Catch of the Day didn’t float your boat, perhaps a $50 discount on the circular LG G Watch R will float your boat.

The Google Store has dropped $50 off the price of the watch bringing the price down from $349 to $299. The G Watch R is now getting onto almost a year old, with the watch launching in Australia in October last year. The watch, like all the other Android Wear devices has received all the software updates released so far by Google, including the recent update that enabled Wi-Fi.

The G Watch R isn’t an aging platform either with the watch containing the same internal components – Snapdragon 400 SoC, 512MB RAM, 4GB Storage – as the recently announced Moto 360 2015, Huawei Watch and Asus ZenWatch 2, so future compatibility should be assured.

The design has been fairly well appreciated in the community with the G Watch R certainly spotted fairly regularly on the street. It’s not the shiny stylish design of the Moto 360 but for a subset the aesthetic is more pleasing.

If you would like to get a G Watch R for under $300, head over to the Google Store now and place your order, there’s free shipping as usual and it ships in 1 – 2 business days.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
