Optus Alcatel Pixi 4.5 4G

Optus have added another Alcatel mobile phone to their prepaid line up of smartphones with the company’s Pixi 4.5″ 4G onetouch mobile phone now available through Optus and for a limited time, you can get an bonus $20 Google Play gift card as a sweetener!

Spec wise, the Alcatel Pixi 4.5″ 4G (and yes, that is the name of the smartphone for some absolutely weird reason) does offer some very good damn specs for the price point Optus have the phone available for.

The full list of specs include:

  • 4.5″ FWVGA Display (480 X 854)
  • 1GHz Quad Core Processor
  • MediaTek MT6735M Chipset
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB Memory (with 2.5GB end user memory available), expandable to 32GB via microSD
  • 5MP Rear Camera, VGA Front Facing
  • Android 5.1 (Lollipop)
  • Battery: 1780 mAh
  • WiFi: 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth: v4.0, GPS
  • Network Connectivity:
    • 3G: 850/900/1900/2100 MHz
    • 4G: 2100/1800/1900/2600/700 MHz
  • Dimensions: 132.2 X 65.1 X 9.95 mm @ 146g

A promising sign for the Alcatel Pixi 4.5″ 4G smartphone is the launch with Android 5.1 (Lollipop) right out of the box but its probably fair to say there may not be an update to Android 6.0 (Marshmallow) available, but we remain ever hopeful. That said of course the main selling point here is both the price and specs but more so the additional $20 Google Play gift card when you activate the included SIM card by 12 February 2016.

Alcatel have been slowly making a return to the Australian market, relaunching the brand back in March in Sydney. They’ve so far released a number of handsets, and have more, aimed at a variety of different segments of the market planned over the coming months.

If you would like to find out more about or purchase the Alcatel Pixi 4.5″ 4G smartphone, you can head over to the Optus pre-paid website or your local Optus store which is available for $69.
