Property site Domain isn’t the first name that comes to mind when thinking about Android development, but after a strong 2015, they’re right up there. Today, Domain has announced a new hire, with Asok Boopathy coming on board as Director of Product.

Asok has a wealth of experience in digital platforms, building product teams, overseeing product organisation and strategy, and leading the technical and product design in a number of Business-to-Business (B2B) and Business-to-Consumer companies around the world including positions at Bigcommerce, PayPal, American Express and US startup FlightPath.

Asok brings his experience to Domain, where he will be responsible for customer-facing products for Domain, as well as being in charge of accelerating solutions and experiences to consumers searching for properties.

As Domain’s new Director of Product, Asok Boopathy said:

Domain is a formidable player in the international property-tech space and has one of the best product teams in Australia. I am excited to be joining a brand that places such a high value on innovation. This is a big business with a startup mentality and set up, being led by big product minds, and I look forward to working with Damon and the team.

Domain’s 2015 was highlighted by a number of great implementations of Google and Android services, including adding Android Wear support and Google Now and Google Voice Commands into their Android app. The Domain development team also added a number of headline features including the ability to check house sale prices from the app.

The team at Domain even won several awards for their app, including the Mobile App Awards Chairman’s Award last year.

Domain has been notoriously fast in implementing new technology in their app and we can’t wait to see how Mr Boopathy speeds this up even more.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
