Google News is a great source for news, but it tends to highlight larger news sources. Google however recognises that sometimes the news is brought to broader attention by local news sites, and they’re starting to highlight that with a ‘Local Source’ tag on news stories.

The importance of a local news source is highlighted by Google in their post announcing the new tag, with Google saying:

Local news publishers play a critical role in covering the stories that impact us every day in our cities, schools and neighborhoods. Local reporters are often members of the communities they serve, bringing additional context and perspective to a story.

The local source tag will be added automatically based on where that source has written about news previously. The local source tag is going live on all Google News platforms from today, including the Web and on mobile on the News & Weather app on Android and iOS

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
