HP Expands Their Chromebook Lineup

Here at Ausdroid we have reviewed several HP Chromebooks over the past few years. They are always well received and HP seem to refresh them often enough to keep us busy. This morning HP announced a new addition to their Chromebook lineup, the Chromebook 11 G5, following on from their recent announcement of the Chromebook 13 with a QHD+ display (about time we saw a decent display on a non-Pixel Chromebook).

The new Chromebook 11 G5 has an 11.6″ display and is HP’s low range device starting at a price of only $189USD. One version of the G5 comes with an optional HD IPS touchscreen protected by Corning Gorilla Glass NBT. It features up to 12.5 hours of battery life (11 hours if you buy the touchscreen model), weighs only 2.5lb (1.14kg) and houses an Intel Celeron N3060 processor. The profile is slimmed down from previous models and is planned to run Android apps soon after release.

This adds to HP’s Chromebook already impressive lineup including the Chromebook 11, the Chromebook 11 EE, the Chromebook 13, and Chromebook 14. HP are certainly throwing their weight behind the Chromebook push with Chromebooks taking over Apple Mac computers in market share in the first quarter of this year.

The HP Chromebook 11 G5 will be available in retail stores in October (in the US) but at this stage there is no word of when it will be available here in Australia. We have reached out the HP for any news on Australian availability.

I’d love a breakdown of which chromebooks are available to Australia and how good they all are

I don’t think any retail stores sell them anymore. I guess there’s not enough profit/markup in them to make it worthwhile selling them

Yep totally true, the slim markup and no possibility to upsell any extra software (I’m looking at you MS Office) means no salesperson on a commission would recommend them.
