Instagram has today announced a new feature coming to the app which will let you add pictures and videos to a daily story that will disappear after 24 hours.

The feature will be appearing in the Instagram app over the next few weeks on iOS and Android with a new bar appearing at the top of your feed. Friends who use the stories feature will appear in a circular icon at the top which will add a colourful ring around it when they add something to their daily story. You add pictures or video as you go through the day, with edits adding text, drawing or stickers to it before posting.

When someone taps on your story to view it, they simply swipe forwards and backwards to view your content. There’s no comments or likes on posts in Instagram stories, instead people viewing your pictures or videos can tap on them to send you an private message.
There’s content controls for Stories, if you run a private Instagram account your stories will only be viewable to your followers. Once your story has been live for a while you can check out who has been looking at your posts.

The app will update with Stories over the next few weeks, so keep an eye out and get snappingInstagram Storying.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
