We’re either close, or still a ways away from seeing the rumoured HTC built Nexus phones that Google is producing this year. The features for the new Nexus keep on rolling in though, just like this new feature that Android Police have posted, which shows a user swiping down on the fingerprint scanner to activate the notification panel.
The evidence is clear, this gif below is apparently a tip animation from the phone itself with Android Police almost 100% certain we’ll see this on the new Nexus – note the electric blue Nexus device used in the animation, that could be your next Nexus. The mechanism itself is simple, swipe your finger down on the fingerprint scanner and your notification panel drops down.
You’ll note the rumoured ‘flower’ home button in the centre of the gif, Android Police say the animation is a little buggy according to their sources, so we’ll see what pans out when the new Nexus launches.
Whether this feature hits other Android devices with a fingerprint sensor isn’t clear. Sundar Pichai told ReCode at their Code conference recently that Google was looking to add more features to Nexus devices, taking them more away from stock experiences and perhaps adding some of those ‘moments of delight’ that Google is so fond of. The functionality looks good, and we’d love to try it out. Guess we’ll have to wait and see.
Would you use a feature like this to access the notification panel on your phone?
