Samsung IFA press event invite seemingly confirms Gear S3 launch

Samsung 2
IFA, the premier European consumer electronics show kicks off in Berlin in just a few weeks time, and Samsung will be holding another Unpacked event and from the invite it seems that the Gear S3 smartwatch is a lock.

The press invite being sent out now is for an event on September 1st, the day before IFA kicks off officially at Messe Berlin on September 2nd. As you can see from the invite, those look like hands from a clock/watch face, so the natural assumption from that is the followup to the Gear S2 launched at IFA last year will make an appearance.

The Gear S3 – codenamed Solis – is expected to be announced in three different variants, a Gear S3 Classic, Gear S3 Frontier, and the Gear S3 Explorer. The Gear S3 Frontier and Explorer could possibly have GPS built-in with Samsung aiming these models at people with a more active lifestyle.

We’re expecting other stuff at the event – possibly the Galaxy Tab S3 – as well as perhaps a few surprises. We’ll be watching as everything is announced, so stay tuned to see what Samsung has to offer.
