gas-buddy
Popular crowd-sourced fuel pricing app Gas Buddy has today launched their new look app for Android which features a number of feature enhancements in addition to the new material design overhaul.

The app, which launched here in Australia earlier this year, has had a fresh coat of paint applied to it, with a cleaner design with a streamlined interface and icons making it easier to navigate and get the information you want or enter the feedback you want.

The app includes better rating systems letting you rate anything from the customer service, to coffee, even the toilets. Searches are improved with new filters letting you search by Fuel Brand, or whether a station has a car wash.

The new app even includes direct submission of petrol prices from ‘sources’. Nic Moulis, country manager for GasBuddy said

Since the launch of GasBuddy in Australia the reception has been incredible. We receive hundreds of thousands of price reports a day, all entered by the community. Today we are excited to announce that in addition to crowdsourcing, GasBuddy is also receiving extremely accurate and current direct petrol price information from sources in the country, making the app the most definitive destination for drivers to find the cheapest servo to fill up.

The app has always had a gamified feel to it with leaderboards, but now includes ‘challenges’ to help you accrue points and perhaps win the $100 worth of fuel that’s given away each day.

The What’s New section of their Play Store entry lists the full change log:

The new GasBuddy is here! Our updated app features a cleaner user experience targeted for Android 7.0 Nougat using material design.
● Earn achievements by completing daily, weekly and monthly challenges
● Rate stations and help others find the best station for their needs
● Smart sorting: Combine lowest and closest fuel prices into the same search
● Filter stations by amenities and brands
● Trimmed down and optimized: Removed 5 permissions, optimized battery life and reduced data usage.

If you want to download the updated app, the update is available now on Google Play.
