At Google IO back in May this year Google announced that Google Play and its apps would be coming to Chromebooks later this year. Then in June it arrived in the Dev channel of Chrome for some Chromebooks, but was yet to arrive for the bulk of Chromebook users who reside on the stable channel of Chrome.

We have seen the Play Store arrive for the Acer Chromebook R11/C738T and the Asus Chromebook Flip, the 2015 Chromebook Pixel which was the third device the Play Store was tested on was yet to receive it. Until today. Although we are yet to see an official announcement from Google regarding the release of the Play Store to the stable channel of the 2015 Chromebook Pixel, users are noticing that they are receiving a Google Play notification on their Chromebook Pixel 2 devices.

As yet there is no word of when it will arrive to other Chromebooks but I for one am waiting with bated breath to hopefully receive the update to my Chromebook (as my kids are to theirs no doubt- can anyone say Minecraft?).

The new version that brings the Play Store is version 53.0.2785.129 so if you are lucky enough to own a Chromebook Pixel 2 keep an eye out for this update.
