HTC Vive is moving into stores in Australia

HTC Vive v2

HTC’s most surprising, and perhaps successful products has been the HTC Vive VR headset. Since it appeared on the tethered PC VR headset landscape, Vive has almost ubiquitously been hailed as the best in its class, and with room-scale VR and hand tracking already available, it has eclipsed its competition.

For PC VR enthusiasts down under you have been able to buy a HTC Vive directly from HTC Online. HTC have now announced that their VR Headset will now be available in both JB HiFi and Harvey Norman retail stores from November 21st, just in time for Christmas shopping.

Unfortunately, there is no mention of pricing as yet, and if you want to buy one online you’ll be looking at $1019.00 USD delivered, which is about $1330, which would attract GST on import of $133 making the whole system around $1463 AUD.

If you’ve ever wanted to try a HTC Vive, you’ll be able to at selected stores. Harvey Norman will be stocking Vive Nationwide and will have live demonstrations at select Harvey Norman and Domayne stores. JB HiFi won’t be stocking it in all stores, but will also have live demonstrations in selected stores around the country.

We’re pretty excited by VR here with a lot of the team having had the opportunity to use one of the headsets it’s exciting to see where VR is heading.

Will you be heading down to your local JB or Harvey Norman to check it out?

You dont need to pay GST on a Vive purchased through HTC. It is included in the shipping cost.
