After launching the Google Earth live case through Telstra the other day it appears that Google will also be expanding their range of Live Cases on the Google Store with the Google Earth and Live Trends Live Cases now listed – but you can’t order them yet.

The cases are showing as ‘Coming Soon’ on the Australian Google Store, so it shouldn’t be too long before you can order them…we hope. Live Cases on the Google Store are being offered for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P and Pixel/Pixel XL currently so these new cases should also be available for those model phones as well, a step up from the Pixel/Pixel XL availability of the Google Earth Live Cases from Telstra.

Google Live Cases are custom printed cases that pair with an app on your phone that can either, in the case of the Live Trends case show you a live wallpaper with ‘the top-trending Google searches right on your screen’, or for the Google Earth Live Case the live wallpaper will show ‘a curated collection of some of the most striking landscapes from Google Earth’.

The Live Cases do have an NFC button on the rear which can be programmed to open an app, launch Google Maps (Google Earth) or find out more about topics trending (Google Trends).

The cases are neat, and though the button is a little hard to press they’re mostly unique and do make your phone stand out. If you’ve been watching for these cases to appear you shouldn’t have to wait too much longer.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
