Moto G5 and G5 Plus full specs and images leak out before MWC launch

With the Moto press event at MWC just over a week away Lenovo almost made it without pretty much their entire device leaking out. Unfortunately, for them, a retail partner jumped the gun and now we know pretty much all there is to know, from a specs perspective anyway. Say hello to the metal design Moto G5 and G5 Plus.

Once again the lower tiered G5 feels more like a Moto E replacement than a spiritual successor to the G1, G2 or G3. While the specs aren’t bad by any means the anything less than an $100 AUD price difference between the 2 and I just see no reason not to get the G5 Plus.

The G5 features a 5″ FHD (1920×1080) resolution display, Snapdragon 430, 2GB RAM, 32GB storage and a 2800 mAh battery, in comparison the G5 Plus features a 5.2″ FHD (1920×1080) resolution display, Snapdragon 625, 2GB RAM 64GB storage and a 3000 mAh battery, along with NFC. The inclusion of NFC along with double the storage, larger battery and a far more capable processor make the G5 Plus the clear choice in my mind.

From my experience, 2 gig is simply not enough RAM, things crash and stutter all the time

The “Plus” is only 5.2″. I’ll stick to my G4 Plus then.

The G5 Plus should definitely have 3GB of RAM.

Neither of them having a black option is a little disappointing.

I profited $104k previous year by doing an online job from my house and I was able to do it by working part-time for 3+ hrs /day. I’m using a money making model I came across from company that i found online and I am happy that i made such great money. It’s really user-friendly and I am just so thankful that I found out about this. This is what i did… STATICTAB.COM/owgxpdb

As mentioned in the earlier comments it is odd to see it the Plus has only 2gb of ram. Surely that could have been upped to 3 or even 4. Also the standard has a higher megapixel count but hopefully the Plus has a better sensor, as the Pixel and iPhone show us – a lot can be done with 12MP.

There looks like some strange choices there. For example the “lower” spec G5 has the higher resolution camera? As Peter k also points out that they probably should have more RAM now too.

Any new, mid-range phone launching in 2017 must have at least 3Gb RAM. 2Gb is so 2015!
Pass.
