Pokémon Go Global Water Festival kicks off with heaps of water type Pokémon now appearing more frequently

Have you found a Lapras in Pokémon Go yet? How about collected enough Magikarp to evolve a Gyardos? If you haven’t then the ‘Global Water Festival’ that begins today should help you out.

Niantic Labs has announced the event which they say will see an increase in Magikarp, Squirtle, Totodile, and friends including their evolutions in the game. As well as greater chance of encountering these Pokémon when you explore areas where ‘water type’ commonly spawn or appear you’ll find several of the water-type Pokémon found in the Johto region – including Lapras.

For those who love to customise their avatar, Niantic is also including a new Magikarp Hat for your avatar to wear.

The festival is live now, and runs until the 29th of March at 1pm PDT – that’s 7am AEDT March 30th for those playing here in Australia. Get in quick and see which Pokémon you can find.
