Remember Google search? Google’s little product that kicked off the whole Google juggernaut thing. Google certainly hasn’t forgotten it and has quietly pushed out a new update to Google search on the Web and mobile that lets you filter search results using a new “Personal tab”.

When you search for any term you can use the filter tabs under the search results to limit the resutls for things like Images, videos or shopping, Personal is the latest addition to these tab filters. Selecting personal will show you results from Google Photos and Gmail for now, with a big reminder that only you can see these results of course.

Tapping on any of the results will open the selected image or email in the appropriate app or web page. We’ve seen mention that results from Google calendar also appear in the Personal tab, however, we couldn’t get that to work yet. The new tab is live for us on the web and Android search, but strangely not via the Google App on Android?
