Now’s a good time to check your Chromecast offers kids, with a 99c movie rental on Google Play Movies now available to claim.

The offer is available for Chromecast (Gen 1 & Gen 2) and Chromecast Ultra owners to claim until the 31st of July. Once you’ve claimed the offer you’ll need to rent a movie before the 31st of August. The movie rental is apparently for ‘eligible titles on Google Play’, but so far I’ve not been able to find one not included in the promotion.

The usual terms and conditions exist, which you can check out here, but other than that it’s pretty straight forward. Head to the Chromecast offers site while connected to the same Wi-Fi network as Chromecast/s and redeem the offer. You can also check within the Google Home app on your Android device.

Once the offer is applied to your account you can then see the rental price as 99c on essentially any movie listed in Google Play Movies.

There’s quite a lot of new movies popping up on Google Play that this offer can be applied to, including the phenomenal Logan, starring Hugh Jackman. There’s other lesser known movies like Hidden Figures which is simply wonderful if you’re looking for something a little more grounded, or The Great Wall if you’re really looking for that fantasy Dragon style genre movie.

It’s always worth checking in for offers on the Chromecast, the original Chromecast purchased back when it launched has probably paid itself back in Google Play offers by now at least. If you’re looking for a cheap way to entertain the family this weekend, here’s your chance.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
