We’ve been tracking ASUS’s latest Chromebook Flip 2 (C302CA) since it was first announced. The 12.5″ FHD convertible Chromebook caught our attention with its mix of premium finish and decent specs.

While we’ve been waiting to hear about the official launch of the Flip 2 in Australia, we stumbled across it on offer on ASUS’s Australian Website today. The Flip 2 will sell for $899 AUD including GST and should ship within 6 days, however, buy right now and you’ll get $100 off with the offer code “CHROME100 “.

The ASUS Chromebook Flip 2 includes:

  • 12.5-inch FHD (1,920 x 1,080) LED 16:9 touch display
  • Intel Core M3 or M7 processor (both listed in different parts of Australian website, likely the M3)
  • 4GB or 8GB RAM (both listed in different parts of Australian website, likely 4GB)
  • 32GB internal storage
  • MicroSD card slot
  • Backlit Chiclet keyboard
  • HD Webcam
  • 2 x USB Type C (including charging over USB C)
  • 2 Cells 39 Whrs Battery

The Flip 2 already has access to the Google Play Store via the Developer channel so if you were looking for a Chromebook to run Android apps the Chromebook Flip 2 would be a fantastic option. It’s also fantastic to see ASUS dispense with a proprietary charger in favour for charging via one of the two USB Type C ports, this brings a smile to my dial.

At this stage, it looks as if the Flip 2 is only available via ASUS’s official website, however seeing as this seems to have been a quite launch they may not yet have all of their distribution channels online. Let us know if you grab one of ASUS’s latest premium Chromebooks.

Insanely priced. Imported a Samsung Chromebook plus for nearly half that. Australia’s chromebook situation is dismal.

Wow – that price!!! For that money you can get a decent spec’d windows 10 laptop.

I picked up a Asus UX305CA last year for under $900. With double the ram and a real SSD the only thing it doesn’t do is flip into a tablet. (and of course the OS is a lot more flexible)

I would have expected a price of $499 or $599 for this machine.
