If you’ve purchased the Nokia 8 after its recent release in Australia, then a tasty Oreo update could be on its way to you soon.

Chief Product Officer of HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas has shared a couple of screenshots of the phone receiving a prompt to update to an Oreo Beta update. The update to Oreo is quite large, as you’d expect, weighing in at almost 1.3GB in size:

It’s not just the Nokia 8 which will be receiving the update with Mr Sarvikas confirming in a follow-up tweet that the Nokia 3, 5 and 6 will also receive an update to Oreo. HMD Global has been quite proactive with updates since launching all their handsets, delivering on-time feature and security updates as part of their sales pitch – sometimes even beating the Pixel and Nexus phones to security updates.

If you’re holding out for Oreo on the Nokia 8, then it shouldn’t be too much longer, but HMD Global isn’t quite giving release details yet. Hopefully it won’t be too long.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

It is now happening to Nokia. While this is a good news, some smartphones are still waiting for Nougat.
