Asus Nexus Player finally gets Oreo with OTA and Factory images now available

After being left behind after the launch of Oreo, Asus’ ageing Nexus Player is getting some love today with Oreo based factory images and OTA files now available.

The files are hosted, as usual, on the Google Factory Images page with the build # OPR6.170623.021. There was some confusion with the Oreo update as it was bundled with the September security update for Android, but up until now no Oreo based factory images or OTA’s for the Nexus Player have been available.

The files are available to download and side-load or flash as required right now, but your Nexus Player should be getting Oreo based updates now.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He’s been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there’s a phone that’s run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan’s dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

I think ours has been running it via the Beta program for months.
