A couple of weeks ago some “evidence” was found suggesting that OnePlus would be releasing a Limited Edition Star Wars OnePlus 5T. For those of us who like to believe every rumour regarding new devices the evidence is very compelling.

The code suggesting a “Rey Cloak Red” OnePlus 5T is in several parts of the 5T ROM but when OnePlus announced the 5T there wasn’t a single mention of the Star Wars edition.

During the OnePlus 5T launch in China they revealed the existence of a red version of the OnePlus 5T called Lava Red. At this stage the variant is exclusive to China but we suspect it may eventually be available else where should it prove popular.

The Lava Red colour is very similar to what we are expecting to see with the Rey Cloak Red which leads us to suspect that this red version will be released internationally as the Limited Edition Star Wars OnePlus 5T. The red is extremely striking and certainly stands out from the crowd of basic black boxes we see on so many phones.

The Lava Red OnePlus 5T is available now on the Chinese OnePlus store if you would like to check it out. I am holding out for the Star Wars edition — fingers crossed. Hopefully the release of it coincides with an Australian launch as well. Australians love their Star Wars franchise: what better way to announce themselves to the scene?

Anyone else buying this theory?
