Google adds Best of 2017 category for Daydream View apps

As we approach the end of the year, the nostalgia is starting to hit. Google has already published their ‘Best of 2017’ for Google play, but has unveiled another Best of category, this time for their VR headset, the Daydream View.

The category is described as a list of ‘best in class titles on Daydream’, and there’s some titles I’d never heard of, let alone tried in there. It’s a mixture of paid and a single free title, and the paid titles are fairly heavily priced, so if you want to try them out you’ll have to pay for it. So, what made it onto the list?

  1. Horizons

    – Free

Horizons is a series of interactive music journeys for Daydream, featuring music from Bonobo.

You control the music; the music controls the world. Use the Daydream controller to make an otherworldly jungle come alive with sound, or travel at breakneck speed through colourful hyperspace.

  2. Hello Mars

    – $3.89

    Hello Mars Highlights:

All 3D data & landing procedures of Hello Mars were created strictly based on NASA’s public data & research.
    – Experience the “7 minutes of terror” Mars landing sequence in VR with real-time rendered graphics and spatial sound effects
    – Prepare yourself as a space pilot in the actual landing simulation lab.
    – Voyage through the distinctive Martian terrain surface with the Curiosity Mars Rover.
    – Learn more about the spacecrafts and historic Mars missions via the interactive VR showroom.

  3. Eclipse: Edge of Light

    – $12.99

Crash-landed on a sentient planet, you awake to discover a dreamscape world, filled with alien wonder and the remains of a betrayed civilization. You find a powerful relic, the Artifact, that can interact with ancient technology and grant you near-magical powers. Just what secrets does the planet harbor? What cataclysm befell its inhabitants? Using your jetpack-equipped space suit, investigate the ancient ruins to uncover the planet’s perplexing past.

  4. Virtual Virtual Reality

    – $11.99

Put on VR headsets in VR to escape your manager and go deeper into nested virtual realities. In the near future, most human jobs are automated. What is the purpose of humanity? Activitude, the Virtual Labor System, is here to help. Your artisanal human companionship is still highly sought by our A.I. clients. Strap on your headset. Find your calling.

  5. Beartopia

    – $20.99

Beartopia is a multiplayer game where you can chat with friends, shear sheep, harvest fruit, and ultimately build a beautiful, bustling community.
