At Google I/O back in May, Google announced the Actions on Google Developer Challenge, a challenge to developers to come up with ‘helpful, entertaining apps for the Assistant’. Today, Google has announced the winners.

There are three overall winners, in first, second and third place as well as winners in 13 other categories. There were thousands of entries, all of which have enriched the number of apps available for the Google Assistant. The winner of the challenge won a trip to Google HQ in Mountain View, CA, a trip to Google I/O 2018, and $10,000 in cash, not bad. The second and third prize winners won a Google Home each as well as $7,500 and $5,000 respectively. So who won?

  • First Place: 100 Years Ago
    • What it’s all about: Travel back in time 100 years and listen to an interactive radio show. Catch up on breaking news and hit songs circa 1917.
  • Second Place: Credit Card Helper
    • What it’s all about: Credit Card Helper analyzes card features, customer
reviews, reads the fine print and looks up Consumer Reports to help you find the best credit card offers.
  • Third Place: Planet Quiz
    • What it’s all about: Learn about the solar system with this fun and educational game.

So you can try out those three, but well, that’s not all. Announced over at g.co/actionschallenge, each winner won cash, or schwag and some even won a Google Home. The other categories and winners are:

With Google Home and Google Home Mini both reduced in price for a limited time, it’s a great time for Google Assistant apps to get more coverage so once you have your new Google Home try out these new ones and see how you can incorporate them into your day.
