Pokémon Go Christmas update brings back Santa Pikachu as well as new water/ice type Pokémon

It’s the festive season and the team at Niantic has kicked off a new event to celebrate the inclusion of new Pokémon in Pokémon Go.

The event is now live, so you’ll see the familiar Santa hat wearing Pikachu we saw last Christmas as well as a selection of new water/ice type Pokémon from the Hoenn region appearing in the game. Additionally more Ice type Pokémon are popping up, including the Santa-esque looking Delibird who is now appearing in the game, complete with a ‘present’ attack that can be used in battles.

Niantic is also giving away a single use egg incubator with the first spin of a Pokéstop each day, encouraging everyone to login every day to get their incubator.

Special Loot boxes will be available to purchase which include ‘Super Incubators, Lure Modules, and the all-new Star Pieces, which earn bonus Stardust for 30 minutes when activated’.

The event runs until 1pm PST on December 25th – that’s 26 December 2017 at 8 am AEDT for us back here in Australia.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He’s been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there’s a phone that’s run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan’s dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
