HTC U11 Life Australian Unboxing

There’s another phone launching this week in Australia, and it may not come in a Lilac Purple colour option but it sure is interesting to us because it runs Android One; it’s the HTC U11 Life.

The HTC U11 Life is launching as a Vodafone carrier exclusive this week on Wednesday (March 14th) on $30, $40, $50, $60, $80 and $100 Red Plans available over 12, 24 or 36 month terms. If you’re not after a plan though, the U11 Life will also be available for purchase outright for $599 from HTC Australia from March 21.

It’s an exciting phone from both a hardware and software perspective. The hardware includes a 5.2″ FullHD resolution display with a Snapdragon 630 SoC, 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage (with microSD card slot) built in, all packaged in a distinctively HTC body that is adorned with the gorgeous Liquid Surface finish they introduced with the flagship U11 last year. The cameras also get well specced with 16MP sensors on both front and rear.

The software includes Android 8.0, and a promise of seeing both Android P when it’s released later this year, and Android Q when it comes next year – as well as all the security updates along the way.

But enough about that, long story, short: We have a U11 Life here in the Ausdroid offices and we’ve unboxed it to give you an idea of what you’ll get inside. In the box you’ll find the HTC U11 Life, a Power Adapter and USB-A to USB-C cable, the HTC U-Sonic earphones and some spare ear tips to help make them fit your ears better. You’ll also find a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter as like many phones these days, there is no headphone jack on the phone. Other than that, a SIM tool and some warranty/safety information sheets is all you get.

Now, if you want to check it all out on video, here you go:

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

Does the U-Sonic headphones have a USB-C connector or 3.5mm?

USB-C – it needs the power to run the noise cancelling part of the headphones.
