+ Monday July 22nd, 2019

It’s the first Monday of the month, so that means that Google has released the latest monthly security update and the OTA and Images are now available to download for supported devices.

The updates of course come in two versions – the 1st of May for manufacturers and the 5th of May for Google’s supported hardware which includes the Nexus 5x, Nexus 6P (not yet available, should be here shortly), Pixel C and of course the Pixel/Pixel XL and Pixel 2/Pixel XL. Over The Air update files are available to download, as are the flashable Images if you need to get those.

  • Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL – 8.1.0 (OPM2.171019.029.B1, May 2018)
  • Pixel/Pixel XL – 8.1.0 (OPM4.171019.016.B1, May 2018)
  • Nexus 6P – Not yet available
  • Nexus 5X – 8.1.0 (OPM4.171019.016.A1, May 2018)
  • Pixel C – 8.1.0 (OPM4.171019.016.C1, May 2018)

Google has been including functional updates for their devices in the monthly security updates for a while, and this month those include:

If you’re willing to wait, the OTA update should be pushed to your supported device shortly, if not you can head over to the OTA or Factory Images page on the Google Developers site and download them now.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
