After announcing their premium eBay Plus service last month, eBay Plus has now launched in Australia offering bonuses including free delivery and returns on over 15 million items.

eBay Plus will give customers receive free delivery and returns on 15 million items from tens of thousands of Aussie retailers including MobileCiti, Myer, Target and Chemist Warehouse. Searching for items on eBay will show retailers in the eBay Plus program with a logo next to them in results eBay Plus items will be listed with the eBay Plus logo, and eBay will also be adding an eBay Plus search filter on their desktop site.

eBay Plus was launched in response to research into the cost of online deliveries. Research showed that over a third (36%) of Australia’s online shoppers spend over $71 each on delivery each year, with around 8% spending more than $200 per year, in total that’s an estimated $730 million they’re spending annually.

At the launch of eBay Plus, Tim MacKinnon, Managing Director of eBay Australia & New Zealand, said the introduction of the premium servce is a game-changer for Aussie shoppers and will address the pain-point of delivery costs, saying ‘We know our customers love the value and convenience of online shopping but our research shows the cost of delivery can stack up over time’.

For those wanting to sign up to the eBay Plus service a free 30-day trial is on offer which will be followed up with an introductory special of $29 for the first year, which climbs to $49 for each year after that. The list of bonuses included in eBay Plus includes:
