On the back of the announcement late last month that HMD Global had begun rolling out Android Pie for the Nokia 7 Plus, HMD Global has confirmed today that our handsets should now be updating as well.

The Nokia 7 Plus is one of the Android handsets in the world to receive the full Android Pie update, beaten only by the Google Pixel handsets and the Essential phone. The Nokia 7 Plus has been getting Android Pie Beta updates with the Nokia 7 Plus announced as an official beta partner at Google I/O back in May.

The Nokia 7 Plus Pie update includes a number of goodies including App Actions, a new feature unique to Android One devices and Google Pixel phones running Android 9 Pie. HMD Global says that the feature will ‘learn about your daily usage and assist you with your everyday tasks, predicting your next move and displaying the right action in your phone’.

HMD Global has also acknowledged that the Digital Wellbeing app is now available for the Nokia 7 Plus as well, with the app encouraging you to have some down time from your smart phone.

As well as these features, the Nokia 7 Plus Pie update includes all the great features announced by Google for Android 9 (Pie) including:

  • Slices – Identifies relevant information from your favourite apps to make them more easily accessible when you need them
  • Adaptive battery – Uses deep learning to understand usage patterns and prioritise battery power on important apps
  • Adaptive brightness – Automatically adapts phone brightness by learning from your interactions with different settings
  • New System navigation – Features a single home button that provides intelligent predictions and suggestions (user enabled)

At around $700, the Nokia 7 Plus is a fantastic handset which Scott found out when he reviewed it earlier this year. You can find the Nokia 7 plus at JB Hi-Fi, Harvey Norman and now, Officeworks.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.

Received the Pie update on Tuesday.

Just picked up the dual SIM version when on holiday overseas. Received the Pie update 2 days ago. Phone runs a treat. Decent VFM, no notch and a headphone jack. Result!
