Google has only just completed rolling out their major Wear OS update, but in a competitive market they can’t stop and now the ‘H’ version of Wear OS is rolling out.
Announced on Twitter, the imaginatively named (/s) ‘H’ update has been detailed by Alisha from the Wear OS team on the Google Support page. The focus of the update is improvements to battery life, app performance and ability to turn the watch off quickly.
The battery improvements are in two areas, with the Battery Saver Mode updated to only display the time once your battery falls below 10% and a deep sleep mode being enabled when the watch senses inactivity (as in not being worn) for 30 minutes.
If you want to restart or turn your watch off, you can now do so in just two steps by holding in the power button then tapping either ‘restart’ or ‘power off’.
Finally, app resumption is being improved with the app state being saved allowing you to pick up where you left off.
Will your watch get this update? Well, according to Google: ‘Your device may not immediately be eligible for this update and will be determined by your watch manufacturer’ which is frustrating. You’ll find out soon enough though with the update ‘progressively rolling out over the coming months’.
