Dipping your toe into the smart home arena is getting even easier with Big W offering a new bundle including a Google Home Mini and TP Link Smart Switch.

The bundle is available with either a Chalk or Charcoal coloured Google Home Mini, with a TP Link Smart Switch included for just $64. The bundle is a perfect starter kit for home automation offering the smarts of Google Assistant and the great quality TP Link Smart Switch.

It’s a decent bargain at $64 with the TP Link Smart Switch – it appears to be the HS100 model – selling from around $36-$60 mark, while Google Home Mini is currently on-sale for $49.

Big W spruik all about the features of the Google Assistant powered Home Mini, including the option to get answers from Google Search, play music from Spotify, Google Play Music or YouTube, and of course control your smart home devices.

The TP-Link HS100 isn’t getting much love on the Big W website, but you can control the plug using the TP-Link Kasa Smart app available from Google Play. You can turn it on or off remotely, or even schedule the switch to turn on or off at certain times.

If you want to get in on the deal, head over to the Big W website to check it out.

The Google Home/Mini/Max will tell you the weather, give you a reminder, and switch off your smart lights (if you have them), but the main function is to play music for you – the purchase price doesn’t allow you to play music for free on any of the services in Australia, you need a costly monthly subscription for that, and other exciting functions like making phone calls for you haven’t been rolled out yet. At the moment it’s worth looking at the alternatives like Amazon Echo.
