Amazon Alexa is a pretty great virtual assistant, but the hardware that it, and even Google Assistant is in can only be described as traditional. If you’re after something not so traditional, then this Alexa enabled Big Mouth Billy Bass is probably for you.

The new smart version of the Big Mouth Billy Bass expands on the fish’s previous ability to simply lip-sync songs like ‘Don’t Worry Be Happy’ to both listen to, and reply to queries directed to Alexa.

The expanded ability of Billy is thanks to the Alexa Gadgets Toolkit, announced in September, which allows developers to build their own Alexa enabled gadgets.

You’ll need an Alexa powered Echo device for Billy Bass to work, but once paired he’ll respond to all your queries to Alexa about the weather, setting timers, telling you jokes and stories, or he can sing an original song.

The fish is available for pre-order only on the Amazon US website where it’s priced at $39.99 (or around $55.57 AUD) and deliveries are set to start shipping on December 1st.

Dan is a die-hard Android fan. Some might even call him a lunatic. He's been an Android user since Android was a thing, and if there's a phone that's run Android, chances are he owns it (his Nexus collection is second-to-none) or has used it.

Dan's dedication to Ausdroid is without question, and he has represented us at some of the biggest international events in our industry including Google I/O, Mobile World Congress, CES and IFA.
