Being a parent in the digital age can be a challenge for some, but Google is wanting to help give parents tools to help with their Family Link suite now rolling out to the stable channel on Chromebooks.
The Family Link tools have previously enabled parents to manage their children’s usage of Android devices, and, previously on Chromebooks on Dev and Beta channels. It’s going wider though from today with Chromebooks now able to be managed by parents through the Family Link tools.
Family Link allows parents to keep an eye on screen time, letting parents set time limits on how long they can use a device for, including setting a cut off to manage bedtime. Parents can also use Family Link to whitelist a range of websites, review and authorise apps and purchases (including In-App Purchases) being downloaded from Google Play and hide apps when necessary – even on Chromebooks.
Family Link gives parents reports to review on their childs technology usage, as well as allowing them to manage their devices from anywhere, including locking accounts on both Android and Chrome OS devices managed by Family Link.
Most parents have a good handle on what their kids are doing online, but there’s always room to have more tools to help make it easier. If you want to give it a go, head over to the Family Link website, or grab the app from Google Play now.
