In case you missed it Samsung will announce their next flagship, the Galaxy S10 lineup on February 20 at the same time as a new foldable smartphone. Not only will a foldable smartphone be joining the party but also a 5G phone. A report out of Korea today suggests that Samsung will announce a 5G smartphone as part of the Galaxy S10 lineup in a few weeks time.
Korean news site, ETNews, today has a report that the as yet unheard of phone to be announced at the Unpacked event will be called the Galaxy S10 X. The X (Roman numeral 10) has has a couple of meanings in this instances- X as in eXperience and X as in eXpansion.
The Galaxy S10 X will be the world’s first smartphone with 5G support and will arrive with an in-display fingerprint sensor, six cameras (4 rear and two front-facing) and a massive 1 terabyte (yes, a full terabyte) of internal memory. There will also be a 6.7 inch SuperAMOLED display driven by a whopping 5000 mAh battery — is it because 5G will be a battery killer so we need more capacity? Alongside this will be 10GB of RAB hopefully keeping the phone running smoothly at all stages.
Samsung will also be using similar AI technology to other manufacturers such as Huawei to enhance the user experience and have the phone learn how you use it and adjust to suit the user to enhance the user experience.
The 5G version of the Galaxy S10, the Galaxy S10 X will arrive in Korea in late March this year and the LTE versions in early March. The phones are expected to be announced in San Francisco on February although we are also seeing ads pop up in London and Paris. This could all be part of a wider campaign to raise awareness after a lacklustre 2018 for Samsung.
Samsung looks to be pulling out all the stops for 2019 with not just some amazing innovations and technologies inside their phones but in a massive advertising blitz. Can you see them being successful with the Galaxy S10 based on the rumours and leaks we have seen so far?
