D-Link announces the new Omna wire-free surveillance kit in Australia

By Chris Rowland

This morning D-Link ANZ has announced the local launch of the Omna Wire-Free Indoor Surveillance Kit. Rivaling some established players in the wireless home surveillance segment, D-Link’s Omna offers greater battery life, options to record locally or to the cloud, and a free 12-month subscription to the cloud recording service for up to five cameras.

Compared to the competition, which offers reasonable battery life, but limited local/cloud options, and expensive plans that start very quickly, D-Link’s offering is looking very appealing.

D-Link ANZ’s Managing Director Graeme Reardon had this to say:

“Our new Omna Wire-Free Surveillance Kit gives users complete flexibility to keep an eye on the things that matter most, both inside or outside of your home, no matter the weather.

There are no wires to run, and with high-power, rechargeable batteries powering each weather and dust-resistant camera, you’ll never have to worry about running ugly network cabling throughout your home, or be restricted to installing cameras close to a power outlet again. It also sports advanced features including Full HD 1080p video capture, combined with options to record footage to a locally connected microSD Card or USB Hard Drive, or to the mydlink™ cloud recording service, as well as crisp and clear two-way audio.

In short Omna Wire-Free provides homes or businesses an easy choice to step up to the next level of smart surveillance solutions.”

To start with, the Wire-Free Surveillance Kit bundle includes the base station and two DCS-2800LH Wire-Free cameras. The cameras feature night vision up to 7.5m from the camera in indoor and outdoor environments, with motion detection and two-way audio for conversation as needed.

D-Link’s Omna is integrated with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. Using voice commands to check your cameras is an awesome feature, and one we use at home every so often.

Designed to fit in to your decor without looking ugly, the new Omna Wire-Free cameras can be placed just about anywhere.

With a complimentary 12-month premium subscription (valued at $49.95), customers can record video to the cloud to access security footage from anywhere. You can play back recordings, download or share them as needed, for complete flexibility.

D-Link’s new Omna Wire-Free surveillance kit is on sale now for $799.95 (or $899.99 in NZ) from all D-Link retailers, and online at www.dlink.com.au.

  • Wow $800 for just 2 cameras! Better off getting something from China and replace once per year would be cheaper

    • You probably ended up spending more.. Those cheap ones have sub-standard battery life and maybe dont have cloud recording support and no local warranty.
