Gaming on mobile device is the next frontier for gaming companies and most are beginning to make their wares available on mobile. To jump in on the mobile action Steam have announced their Steam Link Anywhere and have a supporting Android app ready.

According to the Steam community page Steam Link Anywhere “allows you to stream games to your Steam Link from any computer running Steam, as long as your computer has good upload speed and your Steam Link device has a good network connection”.

At this stage Steam Link Anywhere is in early beta and support for it was added in the latest Steam Link beta build – build 688 to be exact. For Android users you need to be on the beta version that is from March of this year. To install it you go into the settings of the app and change the setting within the “Beta Participation” menu item to “Steam Beta Update”.

As stated many times the service is still in beta form and requires good internet speed for both PC and mobile device. At this stage it only works on Android and Raspberry Pi (and the Steam Link box of course) and if you were wanting to try it head on over to the Play Store and grab it now. For those who cannot get it to send you the newest beta and want to get in on the action now you can grab the beta APK from APK Mirror.

This streaming of games is one of the use cases for 5G. Would you go and grab a 5G phone when they are available just to get the best possible experience out of this?
