It seems the Pixel 4 is following in the footsteps of the Pixel 3 with details leaking nearly daily about various features, hardware and software. Today’s Pixel tidbit comes to us from Unbox Therapy (one of my favourite YouTube channels) who got their hands on some case models for the Pixel 4 and the Pixel 4 XL.

Case models are obviously models made from CAD drawings to help design and determine the fit for new cases for these phones. It is rare for us to see case models leak and while Unbox Therapy is a credible channel the veracity of these leaks is yet to be determined and should be taken with the usual helping of salt.

The models do match up with the leaks from earlier this week with the square camera module on the rear and the lack of a fingerprint sensor anywhere on the phone. The front of the models shows the front facing speaker, which is a fair way down suggesting the presence of a decent notch once again.

There are two speaker cutouts at the bottom of the phone but we suspect just one of these will actually house a speaker and stereo sound will be produced by this working in conjunction with the front-firing speaker at the top of the front display. As we saw the other day the models lack a headphone jack but do have a USB-C port.

According to Lewis Hilsenteger (Lew) in the video the rear camera modules will house dual cameras and a ‘spectral sensor’. The notch at the front, he says, will house the speaker, selfie cameras amongst other things (what do you think they could be?) with their being “5 imaging units in all”. This makes sense, two rear camera and a spectral sensor (3) and dual front-facing cameras again.

This is not the first and most definitely won’t be the last time we see the Pixel 4 before it is announced so don’t fret, all of these details will most likely become clear before too long.

No notchhhhhhhhhhhhh
The speakers on my 3xl are odd. Good odd. It’s obviously something different. At decent volume, the sound is full and the range is great. Low volume, you do hear crackles and noise that aren’t there with other phone speakers. Held in the hand, the vibration of playing music does get irritating. But I love the sound and the reaction from people who at first don’t believe my phones playing that music.
