Augmented Reality App Lets You Place Hisense Products In Your Home

If you’re considering buying a Hisense TV or other appliance but aren’t sure how it would look, Hisense Australia has released a Home AR app that claims to let you view a true-to-scale product in your home space before purchase.

Developed in the Australian market in partnership with Hisense’s local R&D team and an Australian app developer, the app aims to make it easier for prospective Hisense purchasers to choose and purchase a product from Hisense’s range of Consumer Electronics and Home Appliances.

Users will be able to virtually try before they buy, ensuring a product stylistically suits and fits a space prior to purchasing.

Andre Iannuzzi, Head of Marketing at Hisense Australia told Ausdroid:

“At Hisense, we pride ourselves on innovation and customer service, and are always looking for ways to add value for our customers, providing them with the tools they need to easily find a product that is right for them. Our Hisense Home AR app not only gives customers everything they need to accurately measure how Hisense products will fit in their space, but also allows them to see what the product will look like with ultra-realistic detail, minimising the barrier to purchase.”

After testing this app I give I an A grade for effort but a C for execution. The virtual products don’t exactly take up the space they should, the virtual TV legs sometimes disappeared when it was moved around on screen and when I zoomed in to key parts like the TV back ports, these weren’t rendered.

Still it’s a good first effort and hopefully improves in later app versions, even the current version would have been useful to show my family what the TV would look like before I bought a Hisense 55P7 TV last Christmas from JB Hi-FI.

The Hisense Home AR app is free to download and can be run on most smartphones and tablets. It is accessible now via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
