We’ve been hearing rumours and seeing leaks for a range of new Moto G devices and today Motorola has officially unveiled them – the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power have arrived.
In a somewhat surprising move for Moto, both devices seem to be North America exclusives, with the USA and Canada both getting the new devices in the northern Spring.
One interesting change in the naming is the lack of an 8 – the current Moto G line is the Moto G8 generation, however both of these devices had dropped that differentiation. With rumours yesterday that Motorola’s rumoured flagship with be the Moto One 2020, perhaps Lenovo is going to start using the year as the differentiator?
Both models have a lot of similarities such as the same 6.4-inch FHD LCD hole punch display, a Snapdragon 665 SOC, USB C, rear mounted fingerprint sensors, and Android 10. There’s no mention of NFC which could explain why this is a USA only model where ubiquitous tap to pay still hasn’t been achieved.

Moto G Stylus
The Moto G Stylus is Motorola’s first stylus phone, and it’s interesting to see a stylus device at the mid range to compete with the Galaxy Note. IF you wanted a stylus device and didn’t want to pay the flagship tax the Moto G Stylus is a real option. The Moto G Stylus will sell for $299.99 USD unlocked via retail outlets and future carrier availability.
Moto G Power
With a focus on battery life this 5000mAh device with a Snapdragon 655 SOC will last multiple days unless you just never turn off the screen. While it definitely packs less powerful cameras than the Stylus the overall package still looks to be impressive. The Moto G Power will retail for $249.99 USD unlocked via retail outlets and future carrier availability.
It’s a shame that these models will not see international availability, but with other good options at the mid range, we’re not starved for choice locally.
