Folding phones are starting to become far more commonplace. We’ve had a couple of entries from Samsung already in the Galaxy Fold and Z Flip, and the next folding device is rumoured to adopt a common branding.
According to SamMobile, the next device will be the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
We hear from reliable sources that the Galaxy Fold 2 is going to be launched as the Galaxy Z Fold 2.
There’s no doubt now that Samsung’s foldable smartphones will henceforth be grouped under the Galaxy Z umbrella.
On the surface this is — as mentioned — a move to standardise the foldable and flip phones under a banner, the same way Note and Galaxy S devices have been for some time. It’s Samsung’s way to set expectations of what users can expect from their device and perhaps, there’s a little bit of a move away from the first generation Galaxy Fold which had some significant issues.
Moving forward, we’ll almost certainly now specs and indicative pricing before the device is available. It will be interesting to see when the foldable devices become more affordable to the masses.
What are you waiting for before you get onboard the foldable device revolution?
